Brittany Martens

Title

Payroll Implementation Specialist

Education

B.S. in Administrative Management (specialization in Information Technology), and a minor in Business Administration, Central Washington University

Brittany joined Xenium in November 2018 as a Payroll Implementation Specialist, where she will be setting up and implementing new client payroll programming. She has extensive payroll experience, beginning with her first job in 2013 as an office manager and accounting assistant for Gryphone Global, a telesales company in Tigard. In this position she quickly took over the processing of their internal payroll using their Paychex platform, soon after leading the company’s transition of payroll, time tracking and HR to ADP Workforce Now.

Working with payroll on the client side led to an opportunity to transition over to ADP Implementation, where she trained for 6 months on the backend setup details of the ADP Workforce Now platform. She spent five years in this position, handling the setup of a variety of client databases. This included in-depth analysis of clients’ existing payroll needs, detailed back-end programming to build the database functionality and table data necessary for each client’s tracking and reporting, importing additional employee data into the database, delivery and training of the site to the client, supplementing ADP-provided training to ensure client effectiveness, working with clients to process the first two (minimum) live payrolls, building custom reports, and working with internal tax professionals to ensure any state and federal mid-year/mid-quarter tax conversions were balanced, processed and filed correctly.

In addition to Brittany’s Business Administration and IT education, she has also completed Portland Community College’s Accounting AA program, and started to pursue a second Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with an Accounting emphasis. She has plans to complete her Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification in 2019.

Xenium’s culture is what attracted Brittany to join the payroll team. She feels that culture is the most important factor for her when choosing an employer, so Xenium’s public presence and reputation in the industry made the choice to join Xenium an easy one.

Brittany grew up just north of Seattle and moved to Oregon a month after graduating from Central Washington University, and has been here for 13 years. She loves raising her super cool 8-year-old boy, Elliott, and loves to spend time with him hiking, going to movies, playing games and exploring Oregon. In her non-parenting time, she sits on the leadership committee for Tigard/Tualatin’s Relay for Life. She spends a lot of time and energy planning the annual event plus all of the fundraising that goes along with it. She also enjoys drawing and painting, participating in an all-female book club, actively follows politics and loves finding new and interesting (sometimes scary) shows and movies.
