Megan Rutz

Payroll Tax Specialist

B.A. in Personnel, emphasis in Safety Studies, Oregon State University

Megan is a Payroll Tax Specialist at Xenium, and originally came to Xenium in a temporary position in September 2017 to help out during a maternity leave. After a few months of impressing her supervisors, she was offered a permanent position. She handles the very important job of paying payroll taxes (federal and state) for all payroll clients. She also handles quarterly reporting and prepares W-2’s for all Xenium clients.

Megan’s previous experience began with an Oregon State University degree in “Personnel” (now called “Human Resources”), with an emphasis on Safety Studies. This launched her into a 35+ year career as an HR Generalist in a variety of industries, from retail to healthcare to transportation, with payroll supervisor responsibilities. She had entered retirement a few months earlier, but it didn’t last long! She ran across a former colleague who connected her with Xenium, and the rest is history.

Although Megan was born in Seattle, she spent her entire childhood in Salem, lived in Corvallis (for college), three years in Seattle for work, followed by another move to Eugene, and back to Portland in 1989. She has been in Portland ever since. She spends her free time remodeling her new home in King City, and enjoys spending time with her two grown children – Tyler, a student at UO, and Kristy, who recently married David and lives in Beaverton.
