On Tuesday, October 7, Xenium invited local business to the Benson Hotel in Portland for a panel discussion addressing compliance strategy and what to expect for 2015.
The discussion topics centered around recently passed regulations and how it may impact business. The Affordable Care Act employer mandate, legalized marijuana, Portland Paid Sick Leave and heavier demand for human resources are all on the minds of business leaders and something we felt needed to be addressed.
We invited local experts and business leaders to discuss these issues on the panel. They included:
Ken Provencher, President & CEO of PacificSource Health Plans, Jeff Robertson, ERISA Attorney at Barran Liebman, and Anne Donovan, President of Xenium HR. Chuck Floberg, Chairman of Brown & Brown Northwest, served as the event’s moderator.

“I do think it’s important that you work closely with your consultant so you understand what you’re buying and what you’re not buying. If you don’t have a tail on your coverage or don’t have much of a tail on your coverage, you have big risk going forward”
– Jeff Robertson on group health programs

“Most people are pretty reticent to send their employees directly to the exchange because they’re worried about what it says to prospective employees when they have to tell them they don’t have a benefit package.”
– Anne Donovan on the Affordable Care Act
