In early 2010, Xenium put forth the initiative to become more involved in the community. One of the volunteer ideas that came to life, through a suggestion from Human Resource Account Representative, Lacey Halpern, was to support the Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) of Oregon and SW Washington. During Lacey’s time in high school, she had the opportunity to volunteer at the RMHC and saw the impact that it had on families. She knew it would be a perfect fit for the entire Xenium team so she sought out to involve the wider team.

We are provided with four seasons in the Pacific Northwest, but often times it is the cold, rainy winter, that seems to linger for the longest. The rain and grey skies tend to bring spirits down, which can decrease motivation in even the most dedicated and hard working employee. Curling up at home often sounds so much more appealing than making the wet, dreary drive to work.
On December 9th, several Xenium employees served Ronald McDonald House East Portland for a Friday night dinner.
During the dinner, the Xenium group prepared a sandwich bar, pasta salad and fruit salad.
On August 18th, five Xenium employees served Ronald McDonald House East Portland, and one employee helped prepare food for the group ahead of time.
The Federal government’s recent crackdown on the employment of unauthorized employees has sparked urgency amongst HR leaders to spend more time training managers on how to properly fill out the I-9 form, and more importantly, what to look out for. The Department of Homeland Security and US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has instituted nationwide audits through 2014, with a primary focus on employers’ I-9 files.
